Well-being Awareness Month (May) in Law & Mental Health Pioneer by Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren

May is a month of well-being awareness in Law. And for this week’s work-friendly weekend read, I suggest reading about Judge Ginger Lerner-Wren who pioneered the first problem-solving Mental Health Court in the US.

We’re honored that Judge Wren endorsed our book, as below. Her deep understanding of well-being has been transformative for many thousands of clients and lawyers.

And Judge Wren wrote a book about how the first dedicated mental health court emerged from her presiding over a specialized (then unfunded) “Lunch Hour Court”. This led to hundreds of Mental Health Courts across the US(!!)
(Mental Health Courts also exist in Canada, but vary by province or territory and seem to me to be less well-known.)

Judge Wren is active on Twitter and suggests insightful reading there under @JudgeWren. For instance, she posts about how judges are vital to improving well-being in the legal profession. Or on the importance of understanding trauma.

(And she also posts here on LinkedIn.)

Here’s a link for her book:
